RankNear (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates:
- the website https://crystalscanner.com/ (the “Website”), and
- the Crystal Scanner mobile application for Android (the “App”).
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, share, and delete information when you use the Website or the App.
If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use our services.

2. Information we collect
A. Website (crystalscanner.com)
When you use our free online crystal identification tools:
- Photos you upload — images of crystals, stones, gems, or minerals that you submit for AI identification (up to 3 images per session).
- Optional details you provide — such as locality, approximate size, hardness notes, luster, magnetism, and other descriptive text you choose to enter.
- Identification results — the AI-generated name, properties, confidence score, and related output shown to you.
- Technical data — standard server and browser information such as IP address, browser type, device type, referring URL, pages visited, and timestamps. This is used for security, performance, and basic analytics.
- Cookies and similar technologies — we may use cookies or local storage to remember preferences and improve the Website. You can control cookies through your browser settings.
The Website does not require you to create an account for basic identification.
B. Mobile App (Crystal Scanner)
When you use the App:
Account information (if you sign in or sign up)
- Email address
- Name (if provided via Google sign-in or your profile)
- Authentication identifiers from our account provider
You may create an account using:
- Email and password, or
- Google Sign-In (OAuth)
Photos and scan data
- Camera or gallery images you capture or select for crystal identification
- Scan results — crystal type, confidence score, and related identification details
- Saved collection items — crystals you save to your library, including photos stored on your device
When signed in, collection metadata may sync to our cloud database. Collection photos are stored locally on your device unless we later enable cloud photo storage.
Expert Chat (Premium feature)
- Chat messages you send to our AI expert feature
- Conversation context needed to generate replies
Expert Chat is available only to active Premium subscribers.
Subscription and purchase information
- Subscription status, plan type, and purchase history are processed by Google Play and RevenueCat
- We receive entitlement status (e.g., whether Premium is active), not your full payment card details
Google handles payment processing. We do not store your credit or debit card number.
App usage and device data
- App preferences stored on your device (e.g., theme, language, trial/premium state)
- Device and app identifiers needed for authentication, subscriptions, and reliable operation
- Network information required to connect to our servers
We do not collect your precise GPS location.
Permissions
The App may request:
- Camera — to photograph crystals for identification
- Photos / media — to select images from your gallery
- Internet — to run identification, chat, sign-in, and subscriptions
You can deny permissions, but some features will not work.
3. How we use your information
We use information to:
- Identify crystals from photos using AI
- Provide scan results, properties, and educational content
- Operate Expert Chat for Premium users
- Create and manage your account (App)
- Sync your collection when you are signed in (metadata)
- Process and verify subscriptions via Google Play
- Improve accuracy, reliability, and security of our services
- Respond to support requests and legal obligations
- Prevent fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access
We do not use your photos to train public AI models unless we separately inform you and obtain consent.
4. Legal bases (EEA/UK users)
If you are in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, we process personal data under:
- Contract — to provide the App, accounts, and subscriptions you request
- Legitimate interests — security, fraud prevention, service improvement
- Consent — where required (e.g., certain cookies on the Website)
- Legal obligation — where applicable
You may withdraw consent at any time where processing is consent-based.
5. How AI processing works
Both the Website and App send uploaded photos and related text to our secure backend services, which may use third-party AI providers (including Anthropic) to analyze images and generate identification results or chat replies.
- Photos are transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS)
- Processing is performed to deliver the feature you requested
- We retain data only as long as needed (see Section 8)
AI results are informational only and are not professional gemological, geological, or financial advice.
6. Third-party services
We use trusted service providers, including:

- In a business transfer — merger, acquisition, or asset sale (you will be notified where required)
We do not sell or rent your personal information to advertisers or data brokers.

No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. Use our services at your own risk.
10. Your choices and rights

11. Account deletion
Mobile App
If you created an account in the Crystal Scanner app, you may request deletion of your account and associated cloud data.
How to request deletion:
- Email ranknear.mail@gmail.com from the email address linked to your account
- Subject line: “Delete my Crystal Scanner account”
- Include the email address used to sign in (and your Google account email if different)
What we delete:
- Your account profile
- Scan and collection metadata stored in our cloud database
- Expert Chat history stored on our servers
What may remain:
- Information we must keep for legal, tax, or fraud-prevention purposes
- Subscription billing records held by Google Play (manage subscriptions in Google Play → Payments & subscriptions)
- Photos stored only on your device — uninstall the App or delete items in your collection to remove them locally
We will confirm deletion within 30 days.
Website
If you used the Website without an account, we generally do not maintain a persistent user profile. Uploaded images and session data are deleted according to our retention schedule above.
12. Children’s privacy
Our services are not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 in some regions). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

13. International transfers
Your information may be processed in countries other than your own, including the United States and other regions where our service providers operate. We use appropriate safeguards where required by law.

Our Website may link to third-party sites. We are not responsible for their privacy practices. Review their policies before providing personal information.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised version on this page and update the “Last updated” date. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy.
